remembers ERNIE DEATH G.F.I.s bassist from 1998 to 2007
|
Ernie Death Peralta came to me from a referal of another
musician from another band , he was shown G.F.I.s 4th album
"BUSTED UP" on a job site and was told G.F.I was looking for a
bass player , he came in and auditioned for us and nailed all
four songs he was asked to learn needless to say we took him
on and thus began a very happy and fruitful relationship ,
during the course of the band he and I became best friends ,
at one point two members in the band Steve and Josh threatened
to take over MY band and threw me out of my own band , so
ERNIE said fuck you to them and came out side to meet me at my
car and said to me as straight as one can , "lets go start G.F.
I. over again " so we did , and we practiced in his living
room in carlsbad , untill we had reformed once again with
Kevin Castillo and Nat Lew joining the band we were soon up
and running again and I couldn’t have done it with out Ernies
help.
I can only say that Ernie will be missed by a lot of people ,
he had a special knack for picking up bass parts in a song and
making the music come out of his bass guitar in a raw punk
rock sort of way , Ernie recorded with us on "HOME MADE
HARDCORE" "PORN AGAIN" and "PLEASURE ROCKET" our 6th 7th and
8th albums , and it was a pleasure to have recorded with him,
as a matter of fact the song you are hearing in the background
of this page is Ernie singing a song he wrote and we recorded
on the 6th album called "NO MORALS"
All in all , Ernie had his short comings but we all do from
one time or another in our lives , but he had a good and kind
and giving heart , and I think he would have given the shirt
off his back if I ever needed it , he was a great friend and
great band mate .
In the last 7 or so years since he left G.F.I . Ernie and I
had lost contact until last year around March I received a
phone call while in Florida It was Ernie calling to tell me
that our old friend Nat was sick and I should call him , it
was nice to catch up with him and see how every thing was
going but unfortunatly it was the last time I would speak to
him alive, Ernie wherever you are my friend I certainly hope
they have BUDWEISER there farewell my friend and band mate
rest in peace .
